Parish School of Religion (PSR)
Corpus Christi Catholic Church’s Parish School of Religion (PSR) Program is a partnership between the parish and your family. You, as parents, are the primary educators of your child, and our faith formation program encourages each child and family to explore and develop their faith and Catholic identity together.
Classes are held for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
First Reconciliation & First Communion are typically celebrated in a child’s 2nd grade year and is held in the spring every year.
Confirmation is typically celebrated in a child’s 7th or 8th grade year and is held every other year in odd numbered years.
Weekly sessions for children use a small group discussion model. While textbooks are used, creative and engaging, age appropriate methods are also used to explore the materials, such as craft projects, cooking activities, games, group projects, and service projects.
Family sessions are held periodically throughout the year. Family sessions are the opportunity for families to gather together to share in faith-based activities.
Throughout the year, there are various activities that PSR students and their families are invited to and encouraged to participate in.
- Children’s Mass: Children's Mass are scheduled throughout the year and students provide the liturgical ministries for this 9 am Mass.
- Stations of the Cross are scheduled during Lent and the students are invited to lead a station.
- Advent & Lent Collections: During these seasons, the PSR families participate in a project for a local charity.
PSR sessions are from 10 - 11am on Sundays. The PSR year runs from the mid August through the 1st Sunday of May.
Registration for PSR is online or in-person. New students are accepted year round. Please contact the DRE in the parish office with questions.
Note: Confirmation class times, class length as well as frequency of classes may vary from times stated.
Please Note:
All adult volunteers and employees who work with children have completed diocesan training as well as Illinois and DCFS background checks.
All of our textbooks are approved by the Diocese of Belleville Office of Education.
